IP Audio Distribution

Using IP Audio for Broadcast Audio Distribution…

Tieline provides a range of IP audio solutions for distributing multiple streams of high quality audio across a wide range of LANs, WANs and MANs. Tieline IP multiple unicasts are ideal for:

  • Distributing programming between network affiliates or studios.
  • Sending multiple STL signals to different transmitter sites.
  • Sending program inserts to studios or affiliates.
  • Distributing audio from one point to multiple end points.
  • Sending voice tracks from remote studios, affiliates and other locations.

Streamlining Broadcast Networks with Multiple Unicast IP Streams

Tieline IP multiple unicasts are the ideal way to modernize your network and reduce network infrastructure costs for broadcast audio distribution.

Multiple unicasting (multi-unicasting) lets you create multiple connections from one broadcast codec to a specific group of codecs over metropolitan and wide area networks. This reduces capital investment by minimising the number of codecs required when routing audio to several locations from a single point.

The transmitting multi-unicast codec specifies exactly which codecs will receive individual audio streams and dials them directly. This is different to multicasting, which is demand driven by any number of codecs and which is usually restricted to private LAN networks.

Tieline's latest innovations have created affordable new opportunities for streamlining IP audio across pubilc and private IP networks using reliable, cost effective multi-unicast IP technologies. Tieline can assist you to implement these technologies and deliver flexible broadcast solutions to your network.

Multiple Unicasting over IP and other Networks

It is also possible to take advantage of Tieline's renowned connection flexibility and connect over your choice of IP, ISDN, X.21, POTS/PSTN or satellite (IP or ISDN) when distributing high quality, low delay audio between networks, stations, affiliates or studios.

Tieline's interchangeable connection modules provide more flexibility to connect anywhere, anytime, over your choice of connection transport. All Tieline codecs can be fully remote controlled from the studio, no matter how far a codec is installed away from the studio.

Tieline's flexible G3 codec profiles can easily send point-to-point audio between two codecs, or two streams of audio from a single codec to two end points - significantly reducing hardware costs.

Compatibility, the key to flexible audio distribution...

Tieline Bridge-IT, Commander G3 and i-Mix G3 codecs are compatible with all major brands of IP codecs that have implemented the EBU N/ACIP tech 3326 specification, relating to interoperability over IP using SIP (Session Initiation Protocol).

When connecting over ISDN and X.21, Tieline Commander and i-Mix codecs are compatible with all major brands of codecs using the popular G.722 and MPEG algorithms. Tieline codecs are also compatible over POTS/PSTN with Comrex* Matrix*, Access*, Vector* and Blue* codecs.

This means that if you have a Tieline Commander rack unit codec in your studio with a LAN connection attached and a POTS/PSTN and ISDN module installed, you can accept calls from any ISDN codec, most IP codecs, most Comrex codecs and Tieline wireless 3G codecs - now that's compatible!
